Ok, so WHO has ever had this happen to them...? I have yet to hear of a single person that this happened to.
There was the same nonsense when catalytic converters came out and people took them off!
If you're worried about the dealer, it's awful darn easy to put the DPF back in before service work!!

So much for FREEDOM when everyone runs SCARED of the big bad government !!

Hey guys. I'm new to the site. I also have a question. I have a 2003 GMC 2500 Duramax. Here's the problem. I have the Banks Six Gun Diesel Tuner on my truck. The truck has 130,000 miles on it and it's starting to show all the signs as being injector(s) problems.

I live in Vegas. And I have been to the GMC/Chevy dealers and not one of them says that GM will honor the warranty because of the modifications that I have had done.

I call BS! Where do I start? I've called Banks and talked to customer support and they told me that I should'nt meet ANY resistance. But I've struck out three times already.

I'm looking at approximately $3500 in repairs. Where can I go to get GM to do the right thing and help me out???

Thanks, Rocky

Exactly what kind of special warranty did you buy? I dont do any mods to a vehicle until warranty is up for this very reason.

I was refering to the extended warranty on the fuel injectors on my '03 Duramax.

Since then I have had my injectors replaced. The service manager at the GM dealership told me that since this whole 'bail-out' thing has taken place GM has tightened up on what they will do and what they won't do.

He told me eight months ago they would have replaced the faulty injectors with out any question. But now, GM has auditors that visit these dealerships periodiocally making sure that the shops and dealers are following guidlines and making sure that everybody is on the up n up.

He did give me a little break on the labor since I had bought a car from them for my wife.

EFI LIVE will be the programmer and
Depending on what year truck you have you can get a second ECM and tune one and leave the other one stock and just switch ECM's when it needs warranty work

The service manager told me that if I had anything else but the Six Gun diesel tuner he would over looked the whole thing. But that could have been him just trying to be 'nice'. And Banks will tell you that we're protected by Federal law under the whole warranty issue. But without retaining a lawyer, I was pretty much screwed. I use my truck for work, and I did'nt have time to fight over the whole thing.

I too live in Vegas and recently spoke with the Service Manager at the Henderson dealership. He told me if I was to do any mods to my truck the only thing that wouldn't void the warranty would be a DPF back exhaust and a filter system like S&B. He said when you bring your truck in for ANY kind of mechanical issue the do a "Tech 2 Scan" of the ECM which reads the last 10 pages of info. So let's say you did a DPF delete and ran a tuner the you have a problem with your truck. You remove the DPF delete pipe and detune your ECM back to stock they will catch it. He didn't tell me how much driving it would take to go thru 10 pages of data stored in the ECM but he did say it was alot. Remember "GM" stands for Government Motors and with all the money they are spending they are sure to send auditors out to inspect our vehicles before any pricey repair is authorized. Try taking it to another dealership out of state. Good luck.
