Neutral safety backup switch problems

I have an 06 Silverado with a 6 speed allison. It started shifting funny and then just quit. It was dropping a P0708 code. I bought a new NSBS and then went on the hunt to find the thing. Everyone told me that the switch was on the side of the tranny, but I found it inside. It looks like all I need to do is pull the shifter shaft and slide the new switch on, but I wanted to ask if anyone had any tips for the job.

Thanks,

Old style

Thanks but this is for the 05 and older. I was hoping to find the same thing for the newer allisons.

Thanks Again.

The NSBU on the newer trucks is indeed on the inside of the trans.

Pretty straight forward on the install, just remove and swap. Clear any codes beforehand.

I doubt it is the NSBU switch-- most likely a TCM.

That code is for high voltage-- Have you jump started anyone-?

No jumpstarts

No jumping, the gear selector display just going out and then it quit shifting.
