So with the downfall of our economy, GM has decided to indefinitely postpone the new 4.5L Duramax. I think this is a terrible move. I know a lot of people would love a small block D-max in a 1/2 ton application. To me, it would be the perfect truck, especially for a daily driver. So to start with, please post a response to this thread, and let's start gathering names, or anything to send to GM in support of the new LMK. We need your help guys...
PS If we can keep this bumped, or sticky, it would be great.
I think that a Duramax in a 1500 would be awesome! Some people just don't need a 3/4 or full ton truck but want the power of a strong diesel!
Well let me say to those who've lost their jobs from the downsizing (downfall...) of GM: I'm truly sorry and very disappointed it has happened. I hope something turns this economy around much sooner rather than later, and you all find jobs that can support your families and your 4-wheeled habits. I've been a Chevy guy since my bro first took me off-roading in his lifted 86 cheyenne (believe I was 8 or 9), and I plan on running 8 bow-tied cylinders until the day I die.
That said, I'd love to see this company thrive again (who knows maybe I can become one of their powerplant engineers and make everyone happy).

Isuzu and GM have split,(per Automotive News). GM can't even use the name "Duramax", unless they come to some agreement with Isuzu. You will NEVER see the 4.5 unless GM makes up with Isuzu.

I thought the 4.5 babymax was developed by GM, outside of Isuzu.

As far as we as a dealer have been told, it was in conjuction with Isuzu. GM may have retained the rights to the engine but they aren't telling anyone either way.
I know I once read that it was developed completely in-house, maybe it was in Diesel Power Mag or somewhere similar. I'm pretty sure it's not in conjunction with Isuzu at all. Either way, if this motor comes to see the light of day, it won't be for some time. I'm sorry to say it, but I've had to mentally cut my losses, at least until GM decides to make a fight for survival (something they're currently far from). Most of us would love a babymax, but it's just not in our cards.
