CA laws of lifted trucks

ok ppl, i know most of you guys have different laws on lifted trucks in your own states.

but i live here in sunny southern california and have got the luxury of being pulled over for no damn apparent reason today.

Does having mud flaps on lifted trucks ring a bell?

Does the height of the license plate off the ground sound about right?

Or the size of the lift off the ground?

and are there any other laws that are a custom here in CA?

wtf...i didnt know all these regulations are even worthy to make your truck drivable? and ruin the look of certain trucks.

hope you guys can shed some light on the situation for me.

any feedback would be helpful before i strangle every cop that pulls me over...

I got busted in my old dodge 1500 for my lift being close to the limit.

Yes there is a total height from ground to headlight housing (don't know the exact height). People get around this if their truck is really lifted by putting some equivalent headlights mounted on the bottom of the bumper to bring the total ground to headlight height legal.

Not sure if their is a TOTAL lift height law.

Yes mudflaps have to be on the truck if the tire sticks out past the body. So even 1" of tire sticking out could warrant a pull over and citation. (I got busted for 3 of these, my tires did stick out probably a good 3+ inches, until I made some of my own and put on some quick releases on them so I could take them off)

CA has many "custom" laws for cars that are modified. You have to check with DMV, CHP, or research off the net.

I appreciate the feedback Lockdown,

guess i have to start looking for some mud flaps then... cause my damn tires stick out roughly bout 4 inches.

and adding some running lights down below might do the trick on the height issue.

yeah well..i read up on them laws and they are not very clear i tell ya. But, i do know now that they will be keeping an eye out on my truck now.

thanks again
