Starting Jan 2010 it will need to be smogged and if it does not have all the original equipment on it you will have to put it back on to pass smog and that could add up to quite a bit so make sure you figure that in when deciding and maybe get the price down for that reason
So even though I'm buying a 2004, it will be required to be smogged come 2010?
I'm supposed to be picking this up today, can anyone confirm this? Id think that any new smog laws cannot be applied to an older vehicle
I'm afraid that a truck with all these goodies won't likely pass a newer smog check here in CA.

The owner said that from the Turbo's back it's just straight pipe.
Not sure he has the stockers, I should as though huh?
But to be honest, I don't want to buy a truck I'm going to have to worry about smogging since it has work done to it. Are the pipes (lack of cats) the only thing stopping it from passing smog?
What about the electronic programming computer thingy? (Forgive my ignorance on the topic)

Shoot I'd buy it just for the audio system...Dynaudio and Focal are both HIGH digit systems.
He did mention that. Although not an audio buff, he said the front component speakers were $1,500 alone back when he purchased them.

Just talked to him, he does have the stock pipes/cats and will include them in the sale.
So other than the pipes, ya think the computer programmer will cause it to fail smog? Or can I just put it back to the stock setting rather effortlessly?
TIA

Well I got it and couldn't be happier!
The truck stops on a dime and MUCH better than my 4.8L 04 Silverado. The cross drilled/Slotted rotors and new brake pads could have a little to do with that
The stereo system sounds absolutely insane to top it all off!
The trucks a beast and can't wait to haul some bikes in it!
Now I just need to get a VIN check to see what warranty work has been done.

According to the BAR the test will include a visual check to see if all the equipment is still there and a hook up of an OBD II tester for the computer portion and a smoke test for exhaust smoke so if it is not pretty close to stock it may not pass
