You would be surprised at how dumb some of the people are that they hire in their service garages.
Sorry to get off track, while this may be true in some areas, there are actually a lot of us GM techs out here that take pride in our work and also work hard to maintain a good reputation.
I dont mean to come off as a jerk....its just frustrating to always hear how stupid us tech's are

Yes your right it would have worked once, then the fault code came back. That disables your remote starter.
This is out of your owners manual. let me know what you find today and I will help more if you need it.
The vehicle cannot be remote started if the key is in the ignition, the hood is not closed, or if there is an emission control system malfunction.
Also, the engine will turn off during a remote vehicle start if the coolant temperature gets too high or if the oil pressure gets low.
lets start here, these are the two reasons for the code they are
•If DTC P2610 is set, turn the ignition OFF and then completely disconnect the ECM harness connector from the ECM for approximately 1 minute. Reinstall all of the ECM connectors and then clear codes with the scan tool.
⇒ If DTC P2610 resets after code clear, test for an intermittent condition in the Battery Positive Voltage circuit at the underhood fuse block connector X2-D3.
•Replace the ECM.
What I have seen is a loose battery cable connection at the fire wall connection.
the remote start will not work with the check engine light on.
Chris
Ok, so I disconnected the ECM for about 2 minutes. Reconnected and cleared the code. I then started the truck three times and no problem, no code. Then I tried the remote start again everything was good. I then restarted the truck again with the key and still no light. I shut the truck off and got side tracked answering the phone and helping customers at work. (left keys in the ignition but not turned on) I came back out, jumped in the truck and the freaking light came on! I dont know want you mean by the X2-D3 fuse block connector. I looked for it but saw nothing marking which one it was. Please help this light is driving me nuts!

if you are sure the connector x2-d3 is tight, and it is resetting the p2610 code you have to replace the ECM. I have seen this before and it's having a hard time with the internal timer in the ECM .
But I have to say this has been fixed tightening the x2-d3 , It's on the firewall passenger side level with the battery. usually the left lug loosens up

GM as a company has become a huge pile of crap........... The dealers don't have authority to think, everything is done by instructions of GM. GM is pinching pennies and avoiding as much warranty work as possible. Yet another perfect example why one should go Japanese or German.

I show up to get it and remote start doesnt work, walk over jump in and turn the key and the check engine light is on. I go inside, they act dumb founded and reschedule me for later in the week. So today I go in again, wait around for 2 hours and they say its done. I'm like so what was the problem? Service manager says "theres a new bulletin out and we overlooked it it says when reprogramming a new ECM it must be unplugged for 90 sec prior to programming, then started several times to make sure the codes are erased. We did all that and its fine." So as the service manager is telling me this while walking out to my truck with me I lock the truck with the key fob, hit the remote start, it fires up, he's like see all fixed, about that time the truck shuts off, he's dumbfounded, i open the door climb in and turn the key and the Freakin' check engine light is on again. By this time I'm pissed! I throw him the keys, walk back into the waiting room and sit down. About an hour later he comes back and says "I talked to the techs at GM and they say its a bunch of things I need to try to diagnose the problem and it could be a number of things, loose wire somewhere, bad battery, etc... which are not covered by your warranty due to the miles on the truck, the extensive process of diagnosing could take severalhours which you would be responsible for. I grab the keys, tell him how much bs this is and storm off.
If anyone else has experienced this or can tell me what options I have I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
