So i have a 2004 lly ccsb, GMC. It has 109k miles on it and is still in great shape. Would I be better off to get rid of it for a '06 LBZ or should I just build this one. I owe like 18k on it. What do you guys think. Look at my mods and let me know what you think would be the best bet for my money when it comes to power and mpg. If I do sell it, what is it worth. What would you guys pay for a truck like this if you were looking?
Ditch the preditor and get EFI and some supporting mods and go find some mustangs to smoke. Just think, a LBZ is going to be around $25+ and you owe $18K that is at least 7k that you can put into your truck and it will have no problem beating a FURD

True. I am going to do the tranny in a few months if I still have it. After the tranny, I am going to look into EFI Live. I just want to get the best bang for the buck and I am pretty sure that the LBZ makes 50HP more than my LLY does stock. Will a stage III suncoast be enough of a tranny or should I get the stage IV? How long will this motor last once you start doing all these mods to it? Will it still make it to 200k miles easily?
You can get your LLY reflashed to and LBZ. Same truck just different tuning. Do you have the LBZ MP yet? How much power are you looking for if you want to stay 600 or less go with the Stage III if you want more aka building the motor since they can't hold much more then 600 then go with the Stage IV.

Would I gain MPG and HP by reflashing to the LBZ. Where would I get it done and how much does it usually cost? I am going to do the LBZ mouth piece or the AFE mouth piece in the next few weeks.
hmm getting the LLY reprogrammed to LBZ? that's a new one...at least for not being an 06. Just get EFI live and then you can have all the power your tranny can hold. I would just keep your truck though...no need to trade it in. It is always cheaper to mod one than to start all over again with the mods and payment.

You have an 04.5-05lly are not the same as an LBZ and the flashing will not help you, a 06lly "6speed Allison trans" on the other hand is the same with diff tuning. Now 50hp is not really anything, EFI can more than make that up. As far as longevity, that is all on how you treat it and how hard you beat on it. You can go get a 06lly and tune the crap out of it and crack a piston, or do the same "tuning" with your 04.5lly and pop a head gasket, Or get a LB7 and replace injectors. Every year Dmax has it's up's and downs, since you already have one just stick with what you got and roll with it. But if you really want the LBZ, look to see how much you can get out of your ride, and how much a new one is going to cost you, and again look at the diff. Then if you just spend it on your current ride, you are going to kick that 50hp difference trucks butt. Heck if the Diff is over 7k you could probably get a new spinnny thing as well
