Battery replacement

The batteries in my 06 Sierra will soon be 4 years old. Should I replace them now?
My experiences in the recent past tell me most batteries don't give you much warning (if any) of when they are dying. I don't want to wait til that happens.

if it isnt broke, dont fix it....my truck is an 04 and i have the original batteries in my truck too. Unless you just have money burning a hole in your pocket...go for it or you can send it to my paypal....

j/k

I have heard or people that change the batteries and then the new ones fail later. Either way it is a gamble. Usually you can jump your truck if the battery(s) are bad anyway.

I have also had new batteries that fail within days.

Do both batteries have to be good to start the 6.6 ? or can one be weak/undercharged ?

One can be weak...it just depends on what exactly it goes bad for. sometimes a bad battery will drain the other one down. that is why you're supposed to change them as a set. I am happy with my battery life so far. Especially since my truck has been in alaska the whole time.

If your worried buy a couple Optimas. Can't ever go wrong with them plus they have a warranty. Use to be lifetime, but I think they changed it to 10 years?

I thought I saw that post also. Something about removing both batteries at the same time and losing the ecm.

I have a 2001 with original batteries, they seem good yet.
