any one notice that diesel did not shoot up in price for the fourth? stayed right were it was for the past 5 weeks at $4.79 a gallon guess they finally relized that when you charge over $5 dollars a gallon for fuel people will give you the middle finger and just stay home. serves them right.

Ya I actually noticed that myself! I think every place around here went down to $4.79. One place went up to $4.89 but there staying solid. Huh kinda strange...... I feel like Im ripping off the oil company! I'll just start kicking myself in the balls when I get fuel to make it feel normal again.

in my area (ct) it went up along w/ reg at most places. i had to fill up on wed at 4.89/gal, by thurs it was up around 4.93/gal and that was the cheap station many have been right at 5.00 or higher per gal. thankfully i have a beater honda for commuting 80 miles a day. have only been using the dmax for farm stuff and other truck required uses.
Seems like fuel prices are starting to level out in most areas? IDK, I haven't seen a drastic change in prices for a while, most of the ones that I have seen are the areas that are not near the average.
Unfortunately people are going to get "used" to these prices. Kind of when we were all freaking out about hitting the 2, then 3 dollar mark. I don't think we will ever see the $2 range any more unless we get some radical oil use/supply transformation
Its also unfortunate that we had to experience this to force everyone to actually try to figure out how to save money, the environment, be more economical in every sense. We had the means to help ourselves but we never did until we felt we needed to, makes you wonder what else we can do.
Market speculation is what keeps driving the cost of fuel up.I think even if we just say we are planning on drilling more here the market will go down. I hope the bottom falls out and we are back to 50 dollar a barrel oil.

Tell Congress to lift the ban on Domestic drilling for starters. Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less.
just kindof playing DA here but if the prices for some reason dropped to a $2 level again, I wonder how much more people would be pushed into development of alternative energy fuels or at what rate would they be developing this new technology. I guess less people would buy or look for Alternative fuel vehicles because regular vehicles are more attainable.
If it wasn't so hard on everyone this whole fuel thing wouldn't be bad to push everyone in the right direction. If we dont have the reason or the big push ... then why do it?
If electric prices were to skyrocket to almost 5 times the rate in a few years there would be a huge push for development of lower cost LED lighting or more advanced cfl technology and it would probably be happening at a faster rate.
I wonder how long it would take to drop the prices and how low it would drop it if we did start drilling hard and fast tho.

I find it comical that people actually think that if we start drilling and developing here that the prices will drastically drop.
I'll just say this: the only reason oil companies are looking at producing these fields is because they are now cost effective rather then cost prohibitive.
Do some research on the difference in quality between Arabian Peninsula crude and the stuff that normally comes out of the ground here in the US and you might begin to understand.
