2 Wheel Drive Z71?

My dealer just located a leftover 2009 Sierra 2500 CC with 2 wheel drive like I wanted. When he read me the list of options, the "Z71" offroad package was there. I thought the Z71 package was available on 4WD models only.

Can a 2 wheel drive truck come with the "Z71" option? Better yet, why would an "offroad" package be offered on a 2 wheel drive truck in the first place?

Maybe I'm nuts!

Ok, it is confirmed: The NBS 2 wheel drive trucks are available with the "Z71" option.

Having a 2 wheel drive "offroad" package still seems worthless to me. I guess GM is still trying to keep their prices up with any option no matter how useless!

Another dealer located a non Z71 2WD CC for me. I'm checking it out on monday and whoever offers the best deal . . . wins! :rockin

I don't know when it changed, but the Z71 used to be off road 4x4, while Z66 was off road 2wd. I think the only components are skid plates and badging.

The Z26 was on old Chevy Berettas. The only vehicles I saw the Z66 on were S10s and Avalanche's. I'm sure there were Silverado Z66s, I just haven't personally seen them. I have not seen a Z62 at all.
