Yes with A bolt every other whole it is able to flex more and not bend. What is happening now is when your tranny shifts hard the flexplate is not able to flex like it needs to with all the bolts. With 1 bolt ever other whole it can flex as needed and really put the term flexplate to use. With all the bolts in the flexplate it causes it to bend and eventaully break off. just my $.02 if u wait a little longer i can tell u how mine does. I am playing with this now.

Last night I was thinking about that and its true. It will flex more than it does. The cracks start at the bolts.!!!!!!!! I'm in the process of ordering a billet plate from banks. I saw it in the trucking mag. I'ts not listed in any other mag. and it does have holes non like ATS solid disc. Those boys are on a high trip. He was talking to me like uneducated step child. Thanks for the info. we will keep in touch.

What i do not get though is why is it the little guys like me and you that are breaking are flexplates. I have talk to Mcrat and a couple other duramax hot rooters and they have never heard of it. He is running 10's also. I dont get it. i beilve its because of all the heavy stress we put ares threw. On weekends im pulling 36k with it running 65 - 70 when i can get away with it. thats where i beilve we kill them

If everything is aligned properly, why would you want it to flex? If the converter is flopping around everywhere in the bell housing, it will destroy the pump and BOOM. There goes your tranny. Once everything is aligned properly, the billet plate will hold everything in a straight line and will not snap. The ONLY reason a billet flexplate will break is because of an alignment issue. Stockers break mostly by overpowering its capacity. Some Fords like the stock flexplates because some have a cronic alignment issue, but thats not an issue in a Duramax

Well bryan im sorry i have ran 2 of yalls billet flex plates both have failed i went back with a stocker and put a bolt in every other hole. No problems to date. So whats wrong with that picture. A flex plate has to flex rather its .1 inch or 1 mile some how some way its gotta flex it cant be soild. 1 time it broke it took out my whole bellhousing second time it just took out torque converter. Lucky i smarten up and got something that could hold some power

That bolt trick is my next solution. It makes sense. Now i am going to eliminate that plate and bolt it straight to the fly-wheel/ring gear/flexplate etc....

Well, that leads me to believe that you have some bigger issues going on with your setup if you have broken 2 of our "billet" flexplates but if you trust your 3 bolt theory, more power to you. No need in changing it if it is working but in my opinion, there is a reason there are 6 crankshaft bolt holes in that plate. Just saying it would make me uneasy!!

3 bolts, 6 bolts, i dont think any trucks @ <500rwhp should be breaking stockers let alone bilit flex plates!
