idle speed is controlled by engine temp but you are right that is a bit low, im not sure what would cause that.

engine temp was around 200, is that normal? all winter when it was cold it ran 160 but now that its hot it gets to 200 and the idle gets lower

at 200 it should idle between 680-690, i just checked a stock tune. 160* idle should be 680.

my tach is not broken and you know it i dont appreciate your all to often i'm smarter than you answers, now i know you have spent thousands of hours in your lab coat looking through a microscope and your theory is that the molecular hydrocarbons in my diesel fuel has atomically bonded with the nuclear atoms in my fuel rails raising the lower atmopsheric pressure by .0000000039 degrees thus causing the world to spin backwards and my truck to idle lower. go away

I cannot understand why you are so sure that your tach is not broken.....the stepper motors in the guage cluster are known to go bad sometimes.

Have you looked at the idle RPM's with a scanner?
