Kennedey Diesel Performance vs. Duramileage

Kennedey remaps your ECM with up to 2 tunes for $695. if you send them your ECM or $300 more if you use their ECM. They seem to get great reviews.
Duramileage (Powerupdiesel.com) will remap your ECM with 1 tune for $699, if you use their ECM or $495 if they use yours. They get comments like "Smoke and Mirrors", "Fraud", "Doesn't really work".
Can someone explain to me what the difference is, if they are both remapping your ECM?
Does Steve Shelley at powerupdiesel have a bad rep?
Does anyone really know if this works?
Is higher EGT's still an issue?

There are a few of us that tune ecm's. We are using either EFI Live or HP tuners. Custom tunes can be built for any power level needed, with increased economy as a bonus.

Kennedy has a good track record, I have not heard reports on the other company.

Give me a shout if you have questions on ecm tuning and/or the tools needed to do it yourself.

You can buy EFILive from Rob, then you are not locked out of your PCM. I would NEVER go for the options you have outlined because when you get the PCM back, you can't access it or change code. IOW, you have no freedom with your own vehicle...you are trapped into future down time, etc, unless you replace the PCM.

Pay money to limit my use? No thanks.

i agree with Killerbee on limiting yourself with tunes built into your ECM from somebody else so i would highly recommend doing the EFILive yourself or invest into the PPE tuners both will get you lots of power and a fuel economy increase..

Why buy a locked ecm for the same price as the tools/tunes to do it yourself? You won't be able to change settings, tunes, tire size, etc. without sending the ecm back in. So you get some new tires and the size is different, your SOL. What about a new free flowing exhaust, again SOL. If you had EFI, then you are a couple clicks away from a perfect running truck.

I give two free tested tunes that I would match up to them anyday.
