Action We Can Take on High Fuel Prices

I read somewhere this suggestion. If everyone would stop buying fuel from Exxon-Mobil (the largest company) for a week. They would have a surplus and would have to lower prices and the others would have to follow suit. It's a thought.

The problem is if you did all they would do is sit back and laugh. A lot of those stations are corporate but there is still mom and pop that own a franchise. I agree if you can hurt big business it will help the little guy.

exxon/Mobil

Exxon/Mobil made 60 billion in profits in 2007. The highest profit for any business in the US since records have been kept. Chevron has reported 60 million in profits for the first quarter of 2008. The best mileage that I ever got, was when using Exxon, but I haven't been in one of their stations for over a year.

Do you really think that Exxon-Mobil only sell their gas at their stations? You would have to find out every place that buys from them and avoid them too. There are a lot of companies out there selling whole sale to the little guys and you need to know them too. Just because you are buying form the local station that is a so-called no-name they have to be getting the fuel from somewhere. I haven't seen an Exxon-Mobil station in my area in a few years now. In fact the local Mobil station switched names a few years ago to Citgo.

Hey every tankfull that I don't buy from Exxon helps. I can't run them out of business, but I can not give them mine. Citgo is owned by Venezuela and Chavez, the South Amercan dictator, who hates the USA, and just nationalized the Chevron facilty, so that now belongs to Venezuela. I avoid Citgo too. Exxon moved out of Kentucky several years ago. I don't know if they are back there or not.

I understand what you are saying. But in order for it to make a mark you have to aviod all stations that sell Exxon-Mobil gas and not just their stations. That would be like saying you aren't going to by milk from xyz farmer. And he sells his milk to wholesellers who in turn sell it to local shops. Now you have to find all the local shops that sell his milk to avoid giving him any money.

Here' my theory. There is no possible way to get people to not buy gas for a day...or from one company. This has been a talked about theory for years, and noone will do it. The only way it will happen is if the gov. calls recession and tells us we can only buy on certain days. I know it sux, but it's the truth.

We would make better headway getting a MFG to make injectors and fuel system for the Dmax Veggie an 100% Bio compatible. It would be best for everybody. (no I don't hug trees - I am more of a Clear Cut and Burn person)
