ABS Light

First I would like to say thanks to everybody that has answered any of my threads. I am new to this duramax forum, and new to the chevy diesel. Which brings me to my next question, 3 times in the last 3 weeks my abs and parking light came on,and on the LED readout it says "service brake system" then goes right off after the next time I start the truck. Took it in to have it checked out,but nothing came up on the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My truck did the samething after I lifted mine, when slowing down the brake pedal would be really stiff, then pulse and go to the floor. Found out that the abs was trying to activate all the time. Then used my Diablo to modify parameters for 38.5" tires. So, I reset my parameters to stock for tire size, and have had no problems since. If you lifted your truck, and running a programmer, and you changed the parameters for bigger tires. I would reset them to stock. Maybe contact the manufacturer of the programmer to properly set parameters for bigger tires.

this happens to my all the time and my truck is on completely stock suspension. I have also took it to the dealer and no codes are stored in memory and of course it never happens at the dealership. All i ever do is turn the truck off and restart and it goes away. same as you. i have gone though and cleaned and check the sensors but nothing out of the ordinary. now on my Sonoma with the ZR-2 package this happen and i went though 4 abs sensors and 2 to hub and bearing kits from 2 different shops before i realized that the 1st hubs abs ring had a broke tooth but the sensor was not. So how a completely seal hub with abs ring brakes and does not ruin the sensor it's got me.It seems to only happen when i whats to so i think its just condensation or something in the sensor. I'm not going to spend a couple of hundred dollars on hubs to try to fix it when it only happen periodically.

Couple of other things maybe the tone ring is not tight on the hub. Or it's not seated properly or evenly all the way around the hub. The ring could have been machined wrong and have a low spot. Could check it with a micrometer. Like mentioned could very well be condensation. Could pull out the sensors clean out hub, clean tone ring, and clean the hole on the knuckle for the sensor. I would use brake cleaner. Then allow it to dry completely, then use a silicon spray and spray the hole on the knuckle where the sensor goes. Completely soak that opening, this helps prevent condensation getting into the hub.
