Changing fuel filters.

Can someone please explain to me if it is easy? I have read the manuel but it isn't as clear asI would like it to be. Are there any ideas on web sites or maybe someone can help me with the priming thing and the wires that are at the bottom of the filter that.

Thank you for all and any input.

Here's my 2 cents. Go to Merchant Automotive :: Duramax and Allison Experts and purchase an AC delco filter there. RULE OF THUMB: NEVER BUY ANYTHING AT THE DEALER! Merchant Auto is awesome, cheap, and FAST...and they sell Oil, Fuel, and Tranny filters plus everything else under the sun. They also have a special wrench for taking off the Water in Fuel sensor....it's plastic so be VERY careful. As for steps, if this is your first time, I would recommend taking off the fender wall on your passenger side so you can see and get a feel for what you are doing...DONT remove the battery, it's not necessary...just the fender wall. Also, mine was hand loose, getting a filter wrench on there is awful...so try your hand first. Disconnect the wire that goes from the water in fuel sensor....take off the filter...(remember filter will have gas in it!).....empty fuel filter and take off WIF sensor, be careful you don't crack it. Get new filter and put old fuel or a little vaseline on the new O-rings so they seal better. Put WIF sensor on new filter with new o-ring...then put other new o-ring on top of filter and screw it back on hand tight...they don't need to be extremely tight..just as tight as you can get it with hand power. Connect wire again....then on the top of the filter area you will see a small black screw....take it out and don't lose it! You will see a metal prime pump on top....pump that until fuel comes out of screw hole...put screw back in..(ITS PLASTIC TOO..BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN!) Start truck up and let it run for a couple mintues, check for leaks, if none, put wall back on and you're done! I know this is a long post, but it only takes like 20 minutes first time and 10 everytime after...it's easy.

In addition to what Nouseforaname said, there is a DYI section here that you can scan to find more about it. I have no trouble changing my filter from the top and don't remove the inner fender, but it is up to you. Either way, it is not a hard job and at least you will know that it is done correctly when you do it yourself.
