I have almost talked the boss (my dad) into putting some money into our company tow rig. It’s a 2005 crew cab long bed dully with the LLY motor and Ally. It’s got 70,000miles on it 69,000 of which were put on grossing almost 30,000 pounds!
Anyway what does everyone think of these mods and upgrades. It’s out of warranty as far as I know so im not to concerned about anything like that.
Replace edge with EFI live, I want to learn EFI live so I can offer it as one of our services at the shop. I have heard I can turn the VVT into an exhaust break is that true?
Nitto Dura grappler tires
Suncost 5 to 6 speed conversion, is this hard to do? Also what level rebuild kit should I get to handle the big loads this truck hauls?
SS Turbo back exhaust with cat delete
Banks ram air intake
Banks intercooler
Any other ideas or thoughts?

also do a bigger tranny cooler, thats one problem with the LLY that comes out when towing heavy with extra HP but other then that i think you have the right idea, guages are a must.do a stage 3-4 from either Sun Coast or ATS along with the deep pan..

does anyone know if the turbo thing is true? i think i read on here that if you have efi live you can turn your turbo into an exhaust brake? is it like the one on the 4500's? that one works pretty good.

Any variably geometry turbo has the necessary hardware to act as an exhaust brake. Take the new 6.7L Cummins for example. It uses the vanes in the turbo FROM FACTORY as an exhaust brake and is adjustable.

Here's the thing........There will need to be a switch that will turn the function on and off.
From what I can see, you would need to turn off the code(s) in the system that senses vane position otherwise it can go into limp. Other than that, I cant think of anything else you would need to program in..........Anyone else have some input?
