any diy mods??

I have been lookin at boost controllers (Kennedy and ppe) for my friends lly and i noticed just about everything on this motor is electronic. is there a way to make my own boost controller?? on my cummins if you put the 5v supply to the signal on the map sensor it tricks the motor a into seeing more boost, thus more fuel. and on the newer trucks with electronic wastegates we can make our own "boost foolers", boost builders, whatever you want to call it. has anyone done that, or am i goin to be the first to try??
also we are going to make an egr block. i was looking at Kennedy's "fingerstick" and it looks like it may be just a resistor or something like that to send just enough power to signal to the computer that every thing is ok. has anyone made their own?

and one simple question, stupid i know, but lly have vg turbos right?

Yes the LLY has VG turbos. As far as the fingerstick goes he probably won't need one. That model year is not bad about throwing the code and if it does the SES light won't come on.

With the boost controller i haven't heard of anyone making there on, but be careful if you do. The LLY turbo don't need to go any higher than 32 PSI, and spike to 35 PSI. Since he has a LLY a more cost effective way of building boost would be the Kennedy Boost Stick, It will put him right up close to 32 PSI. Also most of the Tuners will add some boost also. IIRC if you add the boost it does not make the injectors add fuel you have to program that in also.

I would not use any boost controllers on the 04-05 LLY. The stresses on that configuration are unintended, and very destructive. At higher altitude, the turbo will die a quick death.

There is going to be some important information on this exact phenom in maxxTorque next issue.
