Do I need a diesel?

I am currently looking at a 2008 2500 Duramax Diesel. My question is do I need this much truck? A couple times a year I drive to Dallas from Little rock Ar. During the warmer months I pull a 4500 lb boat to and from the lake about 45 miles. I currently own a 2007 Avalanche but the truck gets about 9 miles to the gallon pulling the boat. Consider the cost of diesel and my monthly payment only going up $70 a month is it worth it. Also, the diesel is bad azz. Thanks for your opinions. I have been reading this forum for about a month now and you guys are really helpful. Thanks again.

One word answer YES!!! The majority of diesel owners dont use them for what they are intended for but the reliability and power is remarkable. The fuel mileage is also alot better than 9mpg!

I miss my 06. If it wasn't for the high price of the new Diesel I would have gotten it over my 6.0 . Go Diesel .

Avalanche to a duramax, only extra $70....Id sign so fast lol

How ever you may have higer insurance costs.

And the maintenance on a dmax will be required and tougher than on a gasser. Also the maintenance and repair expenses will be more so factor that in..

But you will be happier in a dmax over that plastic lunch box.

Do you need it? NO Should you get it? Hell YES. You know you want it. Once you tow with it you will never want another gasser. But you don't need it for a 4500# boat. Get it anyway.

Dont let Oxcart discourage you......

the maintainance in my opinion is easier.. more expensive yes... but less or it.

plus the truck will have a lifespan of 300k++ last way longer than that avalanche and give you years of GREAT Reliability... and less problems.. and alot better fuel mileage once you get the smogg bullshit off.!
