couple more ?'s for you guys...

After hitting up the 911 forum and getting some proper battery advice, i was able to get my truck started and running today. I also cleaned and the intake and the car seems to have a a bit more response.

Next step is doing the fuel filter. I checked out jpt's fuel filter write up which was really well done. I plan to tackle that next. Thanks jpt. Anyways I noticed that jpt's truck had something my truck is missing...

Notice the 2 black plastic caps on the plumbing (nothing to do with the fuel filter). Anyways i am missing one of those caps and have noticed that i am leaking fluid when i run the ac. Any clues on where to find a replacement? Or is it missing for a reason? I just purchased this modified 03 duramax and am trying to learn about it. Thanks.

Ill be posting pictures soon!

this is the problem area, just appears to be a missing cap... I believe that is what is causing the fluid leak?

As mentioned above, the o-rings retain pressure in the system..Not havin the cap on will not cause it to leak, the o-ring prob is shot

There is a core inside the fitting exactly like the valve core on a tire. The core could be loose. The cap is probably missing from a garage charging the a/c and forgetting to put the cap on. There is alot of pressure in there so the cap wouldnt stop the leak though. If you want just remove the oter cap that you have and put it on that fitting to see if it doesnt leak.

I don't want to sound like a moron here, but are you sure its not just the condensation/water dripping down to the ground that your thinking is the leak? If your a/c is blowing cold air then I wouldn't worry about it. But then again I'm no GM tech either.

^^^^Was wondering the same thing- Can still get a cap from a parts store (will help keep crap out of the AC port anyway). No signs of any oil leaking from the port, so don't believe that it is leaking from there.

haha..funny. My wife freaked out last weekend because we were 5 hours away from home and it was 91 degrees out. We were in a parking lot and the condensation was pouring off mine, and she thought my truck was shot. Haha....I acted like we were stranded and I thought she was going to cry. Then I told her the truth, she punched me and we went home. Next time it does that....put your fingers in it and smell them...see if it's water.
