Black smoke

That was the complaint from the forestry service and thats why they sold it at auction to me. I did find a mouse nest in the air cleaner but it still blows black smoke especially when I tromp on it. I don't know if its oil or diesel but I suspect its diesel smoke. (just a guess) what might cause that? rings, valve guides or something simple like air cleaner. I just blew out the old one. see below for details on type of GMC. could fouled injectors cause that?
this 15 year old vehicle has real low miles on it. 42K.

ya the older diesel smoke alot more becuase less efficient

i take it that your talking about the 6.2L thats mentioned in your sig if so then yes they smoke a little and as they age they continue to get worse.

smoke

looks like I will have to live with it. is there anything that can be done. I plan on running Bio in it, will that help?
