Question replacing the external tranny filter

When you replace the external tranny filter is as simple as removing the old one, filling the new one with the proper tranny fliud and screwing it back on. What tranny fluid should I ues? Is it like when changing the oil and filling the filter before you fill the oil pan so there is oil right there at start up????

If you are leaving all the original fluid in than just use Dexron III approved for H specification. DON'T FORGET the magnet on the top of the old filter!!!

Yes I lost mine the 1st time also, they are cheap and just fit on top of the oil filter itself,it is to trap the shavings in the oil...

Thumbs up Try this while ya wait fer parts to arrive...

I don't think it's possible to lose that magnet in the pan, what you could do in the meantime till ya get the magnet,is put a small[3-4 inch]speaker magnet on bottom of filter, but when ya get the magnet, you need to rechange the filter once again as it may have shaving in bottom of filter case,I would use new filter and magnet, jus so everything goes smooth,oh,don't wait too long to resolve the prob, the sooner ya get back in proper form the better off ya are..IMO
