Uh...a Bobcat IS a Skid Steer

33.5k lbs GCW here with sig truck mods, and she doesn't always like it...try to stay at or below 28k lbs GCW, I feel that's more in the comfort zone.

There is an option for a 4.10 rear that would get you more capacity, similar to the Fjord 'Tow Boss' package, but I've never run across one.

Hey hookem,we are used to calling the mini excavator the ''bobcat'',[rubber tracks!!],and actually it's a Cat mini 302b,now the skid steer is EXACTLY that, with a front loader bucket, and manuevers on tracks.Takeuchi skid steer since we are all technical round here Sounds like a truck driver instead of an equip operator talking there...

Yep,the skid steer is heavy,it's the only mach we got,[without the earth movers;BIG ONES]that will raise my truck almost two feet off ground.I usually load the MINI EXCAVATOR first, then the skid behind that, and I am off, while I am not sure on the exact weight,truck=7900,,mini exc=5000??[I guess] Skid steer=[I say around 10000].I have only done this once and for 24 miles, real heavy loadI am not afraid to try it out towing heavy,I just wish I knew the weight as well as I can remember what they're called!!

Sorry, just had to Fun ya…the Bobcat ‘brand’ has become synonymous in describing equipment, like a tissue is a ‘Kleenex’.

Unfortunately Daddy, my knees will tell the truth of 2000+ hours logged in a CASE 440 Skid Steer clearing many an acre. A Hauler now, but of my many varied careers, Commercial/Residential construction was one. Got tired of the constant employee problems in construction and started bringing everyone else their materials instead. I hate operating the ‘Bobcats’, but I think my favorite is the MUSTANG track steer, a little ‘touchy’ on the controls at first.

They ARE heavier than most people think. 5k is about right on the ‘Mini Backhoe’, with the small Skid Steers starting around 7k and on up to 9.5k. I always get a little ‘Edgy’ when I encounter some idiot pulling a small one with an old ½-ton on a 5-lug tandem with the wheels bowed out and no lights plugged in, so I know they have NO BRAKES.

You’re not blocking the rear of your trailer when loading? Working in the Delta, you won’t encounter it but, working in the hills, I think everyone should experience the feeling just once of being half on the rear of the trailer, lifting the rear wheels of the truck off the ground and having her just start rolling away downhill!!!
