Did you pump the Primer until it stopped after tightening the screw?? That usually put a little pressure back on the system

I don't even have to fully unscrew mine,a half turn to 3/4 should get you real close.You should not have to remove the bleeder screw while bleeding it,I just crack it open a lil,then push down easy,if I don't see that fuel is oozing out,then unscrew a bit more.I think you're taking it out a bit too much.Filling with fuel is not really a necessity,as the primer will prime the whole line if it is pumped enough.Oh,a Duramax WILL run with a loose filter too,my first time changing mine was not tight enough and was dripping a lil fuel out the top,after wiping off my hands,I was able to snug it real good...
