I saw on a gale banks video that the more smoke, that less power its getting. The smoke is unburned fuel which equals less power. my buddy has a 12 valve cummins which smokes real bad too, my 05 lly out performs it all day with no smoke

Yeah...I don't understand why people want smoke. Basically you can tell your friend that your truck is tuned better than his, and will run better than his...so there is nothing wrong with your truck.

its how fuel is injected into the cylinder. the 5.9 only has one injection for power cycle, the d-max has 2 i believe. when piston is starting to come back up for its next power cycle it inj a small puff of fuel, this helps with noise and power and economy. then when it his the top it gives it the full blast of fuel. the method is what makes the d-max sound the way it does. with the 6.7 cummins they use a pizo inj that can puff fuel 6 times in a millie second.

ur buddy has a common rail which is one fuel rail down the center flowing to the injectors( and only 6 at that)... cummins, especially when chipped, have extreme timing which allows excellent fuel flow. the higher the power numbers go the more fuel you are going to need. yes it may be unburned but it is necessary for huge HP numbers.

Our garret is a little bigger to so more airflow. And the 12v wil smoke like a freight train, and make huge power.
