DIC fuel useage??

Anybody know how accurate the DIC is for gallons of fuel used? Ses like a good way to check mileage if it's right.

Just went on a 1000 mile trip. The display read 17.3 gallons used, but I was able to fit 20.xx gallons in the tank. The display read 21.1mpg the whole way...It was actually about 18.2mpg hand calculated. So, I'd say it's not very accurate

I'm not asking about the average fuel Econ display, I'm talking about the gallons used display. Would that change with tuning? That would seem odd. If I check the trip od, and / by gallons used, wouldn't that be an accurate fuel mileage figure?

They all correlate to each other.

Mine is fairly accurate. WIthin about 3/10ths of a gallon. That also probably has something to do with me rounding up the fuel to the nearest dollar. My fuel guage is not accurate as it says that I am on low fuel after I have burned 15.5 gallons in my 26 gallon tank. Therefore I have checked with the gallons used in the DIC and this has helped me go further knowing I still have plenty left.

Ok, so, when I figure mileage this way I'm making about 1-2 mpg better than the DIC shows, and it matches what I come up with doing a hand calc. I'm on my way to KS right now, and on level 5 I'm making 22-23mpg

Must be going pretty slow to be averaging 22-23mpg?
