I have a 2008 GMC, Sierra, Duramax, 3500HD, crew cab and just recently have had a lot of wind noise up near the right top of the windshield by the door post. It gets louder if a gust of wind hit the vehicle. I have taken the truck to my local dealer and he replaced the tow mirror on the right side about a month ago, but that did not correct the problem. I took it back to the dealer this morning and he advised they cannot find the problem.
I really like the truck but this wind noise is driving me cazy. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you or your dealer fix the problem.

Try using blue painters tape to find the real problem, if the wind is from under the windshield gasket. Use some polyurethane to fill any gaps in the gasket. Try to use Dynamat or SecondSkin audio's DAmplifier Pro which is a better product to sound deaden problematic areas. If your very good at sealing use low volume expanding foam.

Is it a kind of whistle? Mine did that. I thought it was upper windshield but it turned out to be between the hood and radiator. Dealer fixed it by adding foam filler strip glued to hood right behind front hood lip.

I had whistle in my tacoma from not enough polyuethane when installing windshield. That why I mentioned the blue tape to find the true cause. I thought it was the drivers door weatherstriping. I was way off.
Now for my wind noise is from my ladder rack on the truck, its a utility bed. I had to drop the ceiling and put a layer of Damplifier Pro on the ceiling. That made the cabin even more quiet. I lOVE IT.

Been there, done that- it works. thats how we used to find them, tape off a section- drive it, if still there repeat and tape off another different section. Once you think you have it gone, remove all but the last piece and drive it again and see if that will still take care of it.... Can be a pain and time consuming sometimes but this is a good idea!!!!!!!!

Ya, it takes bloody forever but it gets done. Sometimes there's no better way than the old school way.
