To Belt -or- Not To Belt?

I find it hard to believe that anyone would choose to purposely not Belt up. I can only think that they must be unaware of what happens to bodies sloshing around inside a vehicle during a wreck.

How bodies eject in rollovers and are usually crushed by the vehicle:

Waking up to a collision and unable to maintain an anchor point to steer from, this driver overcorrects and rolls:

Some want their freedom and choose not to belt up in vehicles where the others inside have:

Will this be you?

Or will this be your type of ending?

If you're not a 'Belt-er', please reconsider.

Good post, i dont feel right without it on. The ONLY time i MAY drive without a seatbelt is when i am out hunting driving down a logging trail, but i feel the way that i am anchored in my seat better with it. I know the first time i tried driving my truck with the torsions cranked (with stock shocks) i drove down to where i snowmobile. There are frost heaves in the road. I hit one and had i not had my seatbelt on i would have hit my head on the roof of the truck.

I can't fathom why someone wouldnt want to wear a seatbelt. I will have to find the pictures of my rollover. They had to use the jaws of life to cut the roof off. The seatbelt was holding me in my seat as the truck landed on the passenger side. The paramedics cut my seatbelt off me to get me out. Even after the rollover i was questioned countless times if i was wearing my seatbelt. I told them to go look at the truck. My seatbelt was cut off me and the clip was still in the buckle. If someone doesnt wear their seatbelt, it better be when they dont ride with me. No one rides in my truck without a seatbelt!

I've seen the last video happen in front of me, on the way to College Station.

The minivan ahead of me drifted off the road (asleep?). With the driver's hand at 9-11 o'clock on the wheel (elbow on door), when they're jerked into the ditch and slung to the right, they hold onto the only anchor available...the wheel. This causes an oversteer to the left, and the ensuing rollover crash.

The driver flew out and into oncoming traffic and was immediately run over. I never knew if it was a man or a woman as their head was gone. Nothing left but bloody shredded meat on a stump that used to be a neck, with most of the clothing shredded.

I'm with ya 100% hook'em but those vids remind me of those crazy anti-marijuana commercials bit over the top. The last one of the guy flying out and getting ran over is amazing

I never used to wear a seatbelt but then one of my ex-gf's said to me one day
"It takes 5 seconds to do it up, but your dead forever" Kinda hit home.

I expected to see that thread from Kman "Fatal Crash" get a bit more discussion. Since it didn't I'm glad you started this thread Hook'em.
I know there were a couple that posted in the other thread about how a seat belt would have held them in their seat to be killed. I hope those of you with that experience understand that that is the minority not the majority. That is power ball lotto winning kind of odds.
Seat belts save an infinite amount of times more often then not wearing if it is a crash that someone will walk away from.
My kids have learned, they won't even let me back out of my driveway or a parking spot at WalMart unless they have buckled in.

I can honstly say that almost every roll-over accident I have worked if any occupant was not belted up they were ejected. Out of those in that catagory that were killed they were killed by their own car rolling over their bodies. That being said I have seen some horrific roll-over accidents that when I rolled up I could not imagine any one being able to survive only to find the driver or occupants were already out of the vehicle with minor injuries thanks to wearing a seatbelt. Like someone said it only takes 5 mins. And for some who say that the seatbelt somehow contributed to a death due to an accident: in 6 years or investigating traffic accidents I have never found a seatbelt to have caused any fatality or do anything other than what it's intended to do.

As I have said before, if you don't want to use the seat belt, that is a personal choice. However, not when you are riding in my vehicle. If you ride with me you WILL wear it or not ride. PERIOD!!!
