Yea, that was my first route to go was behind the seat using 2 13TW5. 500 watts RMS is plenty powerful, the first time I heard it on youtube I was amazed how well it performs and it still retained the deep bass. Most other brands of shallow subs cannot retain the deep sound and makes a pinging noise when it hits hard. They ping because they do not have enough linear excursion, JL on the other hand has an impressive excursion flexibility for a shallow subwoofer.

i really like infinity, rockwell, and jl subs. i have 1 rockwell PS3 super shallow 12 in my truck now in a home made box under my back seat being pushed by an infinity amp with remote gain control...it sounds pretty good and hits hard. rated at 400rms and only 3 1/12 inches deep. and i got the sub for 125 shipped and the amp came from best buy for 150.
i had a full infinity set up on my old truck and it sounded excellent and never missed a beat but they don't offer a slim sub yet so thats why i went rockwell cause the Jl was too expensive. my friend had 3 12w3 jl's in his mountineer though and that thing really hit only prob was the whole car shook so bad i thought it was gonna fall apart

I have a 12'' Rockford Fosgate with dual coil and 1 chanel 800w amp with bass knob hooked up to the bose sub so the frequency is filtered already and it sounds awesome. I hooked it up to the speakers first but the factory already filter most of the bass out so it wasn't too good. So your best bet is a 10'' or a 12'' shallow sub to put under the back seat! the sub is a p3sd212.

I just changed hypertech max energy set on stage 1 for better fuel economy to the quadzilla stealth 2 set on on economy and the difference is awesome. better driving, shifting and fuel economy.
P.S.
My fife didn't want me to buy the truck and buy all the upgrades for it so I decided to get rid of the wife!!!!!!
I fit a 12" alpine type R in a down firing box under the back seat. A sub playing into the floor pan will make it fill the truck.
I'm running a bridged old school Rockford amp that puts out 360 RMS. It hits way hard enough for me and with the alpine head unit I can control the sub output. No need for a bass knob.
One 12" has been the answer for me in my last 3 trucks. I want to hear the music the way it was intended not all "hoopty-ed up"
I listen to rock, jazz, blues and accustic.
Good luck and post a pic when you get done.

IMO the subthump boxes that go under the seat are the best bet for these trucks. I have one wih 2 rockford p2 10's and it hits very hard for 2 10's in a sealed box. It is also a downfire box. They are pretty reasonable, around 150 or so for the box. Get a D class mono amp to go with it that has about 500w RMS and it will sound really good.

Also another thing to keep in mind is what music you listen to, i listen to metal so i have 2 10" JL W3V3's sounds way better for that type of music, if you listen to rap or whatever a 12 would be better, metal just has a kick drum wich the 10's pick up better than a 12, 12's are meant more for those low bass songs like rap. Just personal experience. Either way itll sound good man, 2 12's in a crew cab would sound sic, i have an ext. cab so 10's just work better for me and my metal

I agree with this 10s sound better for rock IMO but if you listen to a wide variety then 12s would be the way to go

Did you raise your seat? I measured the dimension for that sub, the sub box does not have enough air volume for the sub, plus it would rub into the floor which is pretty bad. I wanted to be able to fit a mean sub underneath the seat without raising the seat at all. Stock seat height is pretty comfortable, any higher won't make it comfortable for the long drives.

I had a single punch slimline 10 in my 06 sounded great. It all depends on your preference of music. I'm mainly a rock or country guy I like my bass tight. I have a diierent truck now and have not figured out how to hook it up yet.
