My shifter is in the way!!

I just put in a Flip out clarion deck in my truck but the only problem is i have to flip down the deck while im still in drive before i shut it off or else the deck gets stuck because it hits the shifter. I took the shifter apart today to see if i can cut it down but im not sure is it steel through the whole shifter or just at the end? I know theres people on here with flip up decks what did you guys do?

I'm assuming you're talking about a standard shifter? Park the truck with the shifter in reverse, the screen shouldn't hit it then.

well i don't really want to do that though i want to put it in park i just thought someone maybe had modified there shifter if it worked well or not

There out there (short shifter) seen one once with a tricked out DMAX it was chrome and maintained the trailer button on the end too. That was before I got my DVD player and I never thought of asking the guy. Now I have the same problem you do. Sometimes I forget and I'll get out and next about a minute later it trys to close and is stuck on the shifter.... SUCKS.... Don't know where to get one either BUT THEY ARE OUT THERE...
