service 4 wheel drive on console

2003 Duramax 2500HD

The 4 wheel drive switch light has gone out a few times in the past. It has gone out twice this week. After the truck sits a while, I will crank it up and the light on the switch will come on again. When the light is on the 4 wheel drive buttons work fine. When the 4 wheel drive switch light is off, the 4 wheel drive does not work. Could it just be the switch? How do I replace it?

Just had a transfer case put in. I need to fix this myself if I can! Thanks!

i would atart with the switch in the dash , i replace alot of them and it is esy to do and not that pricey

im curious about this too. mine has been on for about 4 months now but the 4wd still works.
