Aftermarket XM

I have an aftermarket XM radio that uses a cigarette lighter adapter. The problem I have is that I have grown accustomed to my old Toyota 4 Runner which only allowed power to the plugs when the key was turned on. My 03 2500HD Lt has power to all three of my plugs all the time. I am afraid of letting the XM run for hours on end.
My question is has anyone wired up another cigarette lighter adaptor, and where did you go to find power with the key on? I also plan to use this power source to power my rearview camera. I am putting them in the lower hole of the center console below the radio and just above the cup holders. I am open to suggestions.

you could run wires from the fuse panel that are wired to the ignition sw and then out to the dash and then splice the two devices at the dash. need to have a voltage tester you can make one from a light socket and wire and 2 alligator clips.
find a slot that is off with the key off then try with key on to find a spot. If you have the manual you might find a diagram and figure out which spots to try first. usually there were a few key on hot spots in the older cars/trucks. do not know about current production units. I have not even tried on my new truck.
