Try the 'Duct Tape' test. Cover the seal on the three sides, slowly removing until the sound appears. There will be your point to reseal. Noise eliminated, bug shield in-use.

If you watch the replacement procedure, spreading the fat bead of black sealant isn't exact. Add in the movement of glass to the correct position after contact, and it's easy to create a void to catch the wind and annoy.
