First Diesl...New to forum

Hey All,
I have my first diesel on order.....Looking forward to real world experience & suggestions from knowledgable members. Trading in my '11 chev 1/2 ton cause I don't want to destroy it! Purchased a 26' travel trailer (7700 lbs-dry) last spring. I don't tow a lot....Usually pulling a 20' Malibu Wakesetter to the launch (5-8 min. f/house). Did tow travel trailer 7 hrs last summer, B.C./Idaho.....1/2 ton worked REAL hard through mountains! Hence the new diesel. Truck will be a daily driver for wife. My main focus is getting some decent milage & having a safe tow vehicle for my wife & 3 young girls when dragging the travel trailer around. All mods are subject to change, so feedback is welcomed. I work 12hr days (14 w/travel) for 28 days straight. So I appologize in advance for any of my slow responses to comments or questions!

Avatar will change when truck arrives!!!

Thanks guys.....Truck will be wife's daily driver because I work 28 on / 14 off so we don't really have a need for 2 vehicles. Looking forward to getting it & starting some mods.... Sure this form will help me spend some money!

I hope you didn't get the truck for fuel mileage because while there is potential to get 15-16 mpg with mods, the truth is that they normally get 11-12 mpg if doing any kind of driving around town. This is from my experience at least. My truck averages 10.6 mpg as my DD. However, if you drive on the freeway more, the mileage will be much better. I towed my car from Portland, OR to Texas and averaged around 18 mpg or so with a high at 23-24 (riding behind a semi-truck). I love my truck though and couldn't imagine a stronger, faster, better looking truck out there. GM really did it right with the Sierras and Silverados.

Welcome to the Duramax Diesel family.
