| About to purchase a Dmax PLEASE OK well my names Mike and Im from Missouri. Im new to the Duramax world but not the diesel world. I have had a 7.3 and a 6.0 powerstroke and a 02 5.9 and 99 5.9 cummins. Why not try them all and buy a 6.6 ? haha I just sold my 99 cummins for 15K I found a 02 6.6 LB7, 4dr, 4x4, Shortbed, Duramax with 202,000 miles! Hes only asking $9500 and i can talk him down im sure. The trucks pretty much stock far as i know. It has a edge cts but thats getting sold soon as i get it. I dont know the last time the injectors were replaced, no programmer, no turbo anything like that. Anyways the truck does have a few things wrong with it. It needs tires(no big deal)and the gas gauge is broke. it stays on empty. This a hard fix? and how much would it cost? My 02 cummins did the same thing but wasnt to hard or expensive to fix. Also he says it leaks some antifreeze out the rear of the motor, he says he things its the freeze plugs? theres only coolant on the driveway every once in a while Any Sugestions? Should this stop me from buying it? Im plan on putting the following on to the truck: S&B intake 5" exhaust 6" tip Triple pod gauges (boost,Pyro, and fuel pressure) EFI Live (Longhorn Fab Shop tuning) Tow Mirrors 2" Levleing Kit Traction Bars Wheels And Tires I plan on putting a lift pump on some day but not right now, im trying to stay under the 15K mark. Also i know thetranny will be shot sooner or later but why fix something thats not broke? haha Well if theres anything i forgot please let me know and please answer my questions or concerns. Would Like to hear all your guys sugestions! Thanks for taking the time to read this! |

| Welcome. First off screw LHFS they suck some pretty big ones. Go with Kory or Rob for EFI. The LB7 will need injectors. The question is when. Might as well budget that now. Sent from my LT30at using AutoGuide.Com Free App

| Yes get better tuning that LHFS. I run starlite diesel and that's what I recommend but they are not sponsors on the site, so rob through ATP trucks is great (from what I hear) and Cory Wills is great as well. Sent from AutoGuide.com App

| Use CTS and check injector balance rates. That can sort of give you an idea what shape the injectors are in. I'd be worried about the coolent leak and find out where it's comi g from for sure. Blown head gaskets can be expensive.

| If you plan on staying stock turbo and built tranny eventually I would probably stay stock for the $. If you want to get bigger nozzles I wouldn't go over 30 or 40% overs. And yes, do yourself and the truck a favor and don't get tuning from LHFS. Kory & Rob are the sh!t! As far as the coolant leak, I'd have it checked out before buying. Could be the heads leaking. Keep the insight CTS and get EFI then use the CTS to switch between tunes and monitor all of your vitals instead of getting 3 gauges that only do 1 thing a piece. Sent from AutoGuide.com Free App

| welcome! where in MO are you from? There are plenty of great tuners in the KC area for much cheaper than big name shops.
