I just picked up an '03 2500HD 4x2 LT, loaded with every option, 39K. Awesome ride, steal-deal. Looking forward to reading up on what I really got here. Have heard nothing but good about these trucks, so here goes.
Now I gotta get the big boat to haul with it

Welcome to the forum! What kind of mileage does that 8.1 get?
Thanks, it's a great forum. Seems it's fairly new? There isn't a long history of posts, at least not that I could see.
The 8.1 is under a 31' Itasca Sunrise (Winnebago) class A motorhome. The coach weighs about 18K lbs, gets about 8.5-9 no tow, about 7-7.5 towing a 4K-lb jeep wrangler.
It has the 5spd allison tranny also, very nice to drive. We've been very pleased with it. It has quite a bit more power than our last unit with a V10, and gets about a half to one mile to gallon better. The coach is just a little bigger too, and double slides as opposed to none. I think it's a couple thousand pounds heavier too.
With 600ft pounds of torque I just can't figure out why they don't put the Duramax powerplant in the motorhome chassis.

Well for some reason the duramax forum has lagged behind the other two for quite some time and they've all 3 been around for about a year now. I am a moderator over on the PSD forum and we've got a lot of features that this one does not have. Plans are in the works to wake this forum up and get people more active. A big reason why this forum isn't as large or active as the other two is that the duramax is only about 5 years old, whereas the powerstroke has been around since '94, and the cummins since '89......there's a lot larger pool of people out there in those engines, so there's naturally going to be more members. The best way to spread is to make up a flyer and lay it on other d-max powered vehicles I think.
Well, there's a forum for just about any interest a human could have in this country, around the world for that matter. I picked up my truck yesterday, and after doing some clean up on it I did a yahoo search for 'duramx forum' and this one came up first. So you got that right anyhow!
I went out to look at a new left over '05 6.0 and it turned out to be a 'work-truck' trim. Plus the dealer couldn't do anything with my '06 Volvo V50 trade. Yep, had that stupid car for six months, got hosed trading it in. But what the hell, got a real truck :Peelout
Went to another dealer, one of those mega-super-big-wig ones with all brands (Power Auto Group?) and they had a Volvo store just down the street. And they had this diesel sitting there and I didn't think I could afford one. They made me one helluva deal and bailed me out of the volvo lease. I think this truck would have been sold but the previous owner smoked in it and it stunk real good I found a product earlier in the year for odor removal: www.forceoutproducts.com I used it on every square inch of fabric in that cab, and wiped down all the plastic, deep cleaned the leather and then lexoled it. Man what a difference. She's just about like new again
