New to the Diesel world!!

Hey everyone, Its nice to join. I just purchased a 04 Chevy Duramax, It has 54000 miles and is in great shape. As you all understand I have alot of ?'s about things. I am a pretty technical guy so I understand most things. But I have alot of kinda general ?'s about diesel fuel and additives. Someone told me that they have just recently changed diesel fuel and that I will need to use additives.
