Personally, I would go with a spray in liner. Yes, if you drop something heavy onto it there is a possibility it may still dent the bed of your box, but it will not chip off.
On my old truck there was a drop in bed liner and when we pulled it out we saw the damage that was left from all of the water that got caught in between the metal and the plastic liner. I vote go spray in liner. Line-x does a rather good job!!

It looks like I'll keep the defog (skip the sliding window), go for a Line-X, and perhaps a Leer. I looked at the HERD bars and was not keen on a whole bumper replacement but if that is necessary to keep the wildlife out of my lap, then so be it.

I got the 2010 as the local dealer did not have a 2009 optioned the way I wanted. It turns out their markup is also lower on a custom ordered vehicle (as it does not sit in their lot with them making finance payments on it for months and putting countless tanks of fuel in it for test drives). In addition, if/when I ever go to sell, the vehicle will be a year "newer" or at least it will appear to be.

I'm sure I will have more questions but thanks for all the help so far.
