the diesel shop that did all the work on the truck did the tunning as well i would have to talk to his guy. im completely un familier with duramax tuners but is the efi similar to a sct or a spartan? so i could copy someone elses tune off this site?

Yes they are exactly on the same level as SCT or spartan tunning, only difference is unlike SCT with their livewire EFI doesnt come with a monitor setup like that, ask the guy if he has a DSP 2 or DSP 5 switch which is an on the fly switch to change tunes in the truck... You wouldnt be able to copy a tune though you can go to a tuner like Idaho Rob, MMLMM, Jess at Husker Diesel and pay to have a tune made, which you then would log your trucks info and then send it to them and tell them what you want... But EFI IS the best tunning you can get for a duramax.... does he just have a EFI tune in it or does he have the V1 or V2 unit?

no switch just the 1 tune. how does the tune get in the truck from the computer through the obd port with a basic monitor? what is a v
1 or v2 unit?

This is most likely a question for a tuner or someone with EFI live but to my believing to get a tune on the Truck you would need a Laptop with either V1 or V2 (different EFI live setups V2 i believe give you more options and it better for logging and all of that) they are both handheld units and then you could plug into the truck. But since it sounds like he doesnt actually own the EFI live he just bought a tune I think you would need to either send your PCM in to a tuner for the tune to be uploaded, or to have a local shop like in this case do it
