Red face Soon-to-be DMAX owner...

Hello everybody. My name is Tim and I am new to the forums (first post)! I currently do not have my DMAX, but am looking everyday and am having a hard time finding one I like in my general area. Plus, I have to sell my (oh so tiny!) Audi TT. I am trying to find a crew cab, preferably lifted already, with leather, of course diesel, and heated seats would be great. Thats about it. Shouldnt be too hard to find right?
Still havent found one in my price range that I like.

I got close to getting a Ford, but after doing my research and driving a friends dmax and a friends 7.3l ford, I still prefer the DMAX.

I think the dmax is much more comfortable and much much more reliable!

I have a couple questions.
1) Is there any model dmax or year dmax to avoid due to problems?

2) What are problems with these trucks?

3) I love tuning, and will tune my dmax when I get it. Is there any precautions that I need to look out for? Like how much power is too much power before I blow a tranny or something.

4)I heard the Allison tranny is very strong... how strong is it? Could i drive around one night and find a bull dozer at some construction site and try to pull it? (I know, I'm a little stupid)

5) What do you all think of the new Bull Dog touch screen PCM? Anybody running one?

Thanks for all the info! I look forward to finding my DMAX soon. And if anybody wants to buy an Audi TT let me know!!!

Nice to meet everybody.

Oh, and one more question... what other web sites can I check out to find more trucks. So far I have religiously searched : Carmax, eBay, Autotrader, Cars.com.

all of the years are good. The lb7 did have injector problems but have since been covered under a 7yr 200000 mile warranty, and the LLY had a overheating problems but that is just when towing heavy loads on very hot days. LBZ and LMM have not had any big problems yet.

You will need to keep it under 90 hp on the stock tranny and even at that watch the WOT in OD. The tuners are very nice for extra power and fuel economy.

4)I heard the Allison tranny is very strong... how strong is it? Could i drive around one night and find a bull dozer at some construction site and try to pull it? (I know, I'm a little stupid)

The transmission is very strong but not indestructable. There are many aftermarket kits out there though that will make it hold more power. What you need just denpends on how much power you want.

5) What do you all think of the new Bull Dog touch screen PCM? Anybody running one?

I have not run one or even seen one but i have ran a bully dog power pup and tripple dog. They do what the claim but i like my PPE a lot better.
