I JUST BOUGHT MYSELF A 01 CREWCAB SHORT BOX DURAMAX. NOT EVER DRIVEN ONE, I HAVE QUESTIONS....IT HAS THE 4" EXHAUST,NO CAT WITH COLD AIR INTAKE AND HYPERTECH PROGRAMMER, 6" LIFT W 35'S GRANTED IT RUNS LIKE A SCALDED DOG, AND I LOVE THE TRUCK, BUT I HAVE A QUESTION WHENEVER I AM AT WOT BOOST IS ANY WERE FROM 15 TO 25PSI IST SOUNDS AS IF THERE IS A LOUDER THAN USUAL RYTHMIC CLATTERING OR KNOCKING ALMOST AS IS IT HAS LOOSE RODS OR BAD PUSHRODS. IS IT NORMAL IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN I HAMMER ON IT NORMAL DRIVING I DONT HEAR IT AS MUCH ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP
Hmm my truck doesnt sound any different with a WOT lainch. The trouble is that you dont know what the previous owner did. The 35's are a strain on the truck alone so its hard to say. How many miles are on the truck? Id say at the minimum change the oil out possibly put a additive in like lucus and see if that helps. I personally put the additive in my 1/2 ton gasser with 200k on it for better oil psi

Your problem sounds like a fuel knock maybe, do you know if it has had the injectors replaced, my 03 is on its 3rd set, they had a problem with the injectors in the LB7 so they are covered under warranty until 200K miles. It sounds like injectors to me, any fuel in the oil? codes? excessive smoke with programmer off? The high balance rates of the injectors will make it knock, almost sounds like a rod knock.
also it wouldn't be a bad idea running some sort of fuel additive with this new fuel they have..just a thought

My Truck Only Has 84k On It It Dosent Smoke With Or Without The Programmer I Ran The Vin At The Dealership And It Seems That The Injectors Have Never Been Replace, I Took Your Advice Changed The Fuel Filter Then Added Some Redline Rl2,, Virtually Quieted The Knock And Gained Alot More Responce Ans Power
