Soon to be new owner

Well my wife wanted a bigger Travel Trailer and we pulled it once with an '07 1500 5.3 L. It will do it...but it doesn't like it! Neither do I for that matter (9.5 mpg and a bunch of bouncing).

I owned an '03 gasser 2500HD with the 6.0 and pulled a larger flatbed I had at the time but got rid of it and didn't need the 3/4 ton. Now I'm back in the 2500 market and looking at the D/A. I am in a little bit of a pinch since we have 3500 mile round trip (plus local driving at destination) on the 11th. Needless, to say I'll be making a decision within a week and a half.

I’m looking forward to the insight from this board, I'll be reading more than posting...unless I need to ask a question.

is there any certain year you are wanting, i have a LMM and love it, but they are all good some had minor issues but nothin major. LB7 had injector issues but are warranted till 200K, and the LLY had overheater issues towing big loads on hot days.

Looking at NEW left over '07's. I travel quite a bit and plan on looking at a couple in VA and SC this week and one back home in Ohio later in the week. I drove an '06 at LINK: Westside Chevrolet their stock number is: 80521AR . It is the white one.

What part of VIN is needed to tell what issues to expect? I could use the info for all the potential D/A's.

Thanks!

Kev

Other than having all of the new emission stuff on them there have not been any major problems. The fuel mileage will be the worst on the LMM over all of the other models too, but ditch the dpf and that won't be a concern anymore.

OK...someone humor me...What's the DPF stuff and whats involved in getting rid of it? Does doing this void any warranty? When replying just pretend that I know nothing about the Duramax .

Thanks again.

its the diesel particulate filter, to get rid of it you take the sensor out of exhaust remove the exhaust amd get a turbo back from a previous model, then get a ppe or quadzilla tuner to clear check engine light. It will most likley void warranty but you can always put stock on to go the dealer, i did mine and saw a 4mpg increase in mileage.
