welcome!!! It depends on who you ask... lots of different opinions. Some people will say wait til its broken in (20-30k miles) some will say go for it right away. Do what ever your comfortable with. I know that you should expect your mileage to keep gettin better the more miles you put on though. Good luck!!!

X2...you can change over whenever you feel comfortable. Some people, including me, waited for 1K miles, or so, for most of the assembly debris to dislodge - similar to some of the recommendations of waiting 5K miles to change out the gear lube and the Allison spin-on filter.

I have a lot of left over, unopened Amsoil DEO 5W40 Premium in the gallon size. If you need three gallons, I have some for pretty cheap - it's just taking up room in my garage.

I would wait a bit and let your engine break in. I know Syn. is supposed to be better than regular oil...but it won't hurt to wait a bit. My uncle only runs regular oil in all his diesel trucks, and he has over 200 thou. on all of em.
