Hello all,
Purchased my first Duramax today. It's an 06 LBZ with 147k miles. It wasn't exactly what I was thinking I would buy as it does have some mods. It has some type of exhaust (I think 5 inch), I think either a leveling kit or some kind of lift (they're Bilstein shocks and a refreshed front end), a banks intake which I know is frowned upon, and aftermarket wheels. Truck starts runs and drives wonderfully but I'm worried about the truck having been beat on and not knowing exactly what was done to it. The more I dwell on it the more uneasy I become. Suffering buyers remorse I suppose. As I write this it begs the question "why the hell did you buy it?" But I wanted one of these trucks for a while and minus the wheels and intake I would have done the other stuff anyway. It's a beautiful truck and while it has typical Midwest rust one the frame it's pretty solid. I guess my concerns and questions are this:
-I know pump rub is an issue, and aside from pulling it apart, is there a way to see if it was done?
-I'm unsure if the egr was blocked or not.
-I don't believe it has a tune of any kind and idt there's a way to check
-The steering wheel has a bit of what I would consider play, but I'm coming from VW's with sportier handling so idk what's normal
-There is a wet spot near/around the bell housing. Is this due to the PCV reroute? Also, would this drip on the ground?
I may add more as I learn and become familiar with the forum, but I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully ease some of my concerns. I know it's probably stupid to have bought a truck I feel unsure about, but I think I will be happy with it once I get used to it and become more familiar with this platform. Unless I end up really not liking it then I guess I'll trade it. I'm feeling like a butt head about this so idk. I might be able to go through the dealer and contact the previous owner but I'm not sure. Worth a try perhaps.
Anyway, feedback is welcome. Any "wtf were you thinking" or "you did fine stop worrying" is welcome as well. I apologize if I'm not very thorough so if pics or more explanation is needed please say so. Just trying to make sure I didn't screw myself or if I did hoping I can unf*ck myself. Looking forward to learning and being apart of the community.
