Talking New LB7 owner

Well I just got home a little while ago from driving to get my 2002 crew cab short box and thought I'd introduce myself.
This is my first diesel truck and I'm really happy. It only has 52,000 and I got it for 18,750 but I had to drive 600 miles to get it. I got 16.5 mpg on the way home which ain't bad but I thought it would get better with the hypertech 3. I had it set on stage 3 do you think it would get better on 2? I was going about 80 most the way. Also it has 265's. I'm really tired driving that far with only 7 hours of sleep in the past 2 days sucks. So Hi everyone and goodnite.
Brent

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new truck!!!

Honestly you did pretty good to get 16.5 mpgs while running 80. If you drop that speed back to around 65-70 you will be amazed at how much better it will do.

Congrats, welcome, and I am impressed you managed 80 all the way. When I drove from VA to IA I could only average 65.

I'm currently using the hyptertech PP3, I run it on stage 2 and that definitely gets the better mpg out of the 3 settings with some well improved power as well.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I got it all cleaned up today and changed the oil. I used royal purple, does anyone else use this kind of oil? Also it has a bra with the winter front cover, it was behind the seat and looks like brand new. Do you think I will need to run the winter cover here in Iowa? I'm pretty happy, the only thing that bothers me is that its starting to rust under neath. Just surface but I'm going to get it acided and undercoat it before winter. Also does anyone know the difference between the two fuel filters? I went to O reilly's to get one and they said there were two different ones.
Thanks Brent
