Well, I saw a few names here that I've seen in other places over the years! I have been a first gen Dodge guy for the past 10 years and was going to buy a new Dodge but couldn't pull myself to do so with the problems they are having with the new 6.7's. I think those DPF's are going to be a real problem, not just with Dodge but all the maufacturers.
So, in order to get a newer truck and stay away from all the smog stuff, I picked up a 2005 Chevy 4x4 Duramax/ auto that only has 18,000 miles on it. Will actually get it tomorrow. It is bone stock but I'll be wanting to do a few things to it. So forgive me in advance if I ask something that might have been beat to death already. I'll try too search stuff out before asking.
First things are going to be intake and exhaust along with some gauges then a controller. Maybe a water meth system down the road.
I did a lot of stuff to my Dodge so I'm not new to the diesel performance stuff, just to the Duramax.

I will be spending a lot of time here looking and reading.
I also will be spending time over on the sister site for the Dodges, I'm an admin over there. I keep waiting for them to fire me once the word gets out I bought a Duramax!
welcome to the site...i sold all my Duramax's for sevaral reasons and i even offered to step down from my position as a mod since i'm in the processes of building a 12V and no longer have a Duramax but i my father and 2 brothers and have Duramax's so i do all their tuning for them so i'm still around them everyday..
just a word of caution,the LLY has been known to overheat so i would upgrade some cooling stuff to avoid that from happening..contact killerbee(Micheal)he has done quite a bit of research on what causes the overheating and has some upgrades you can do to avoid that from happening to your Duramax.
other upgrades are
Exhaust=Silverline or MBRP.
Programmers=Diablo,Quadzilla,ATS,PPE or EFILive.
CAI=AFE,AEM or Volant..
