This is my best shot at an intro thread. Like the title says FNG in Arlington, Va. I am actually from NY, I am just IN Va. I have a small construction business and also provide tactical driver training to state department as well as private agencies. To keep me some what sane I also Road Race a spec Mustang with NASAProRacing.com under the Camaro Mustang Challenge series banner.
I love diesel power and couldnt imagine towing without it. We have just recently purchased an 05 Duramax Crew Dually for towing our 50' race trailer. We tow a smaller trailer with our '99 6.5 burb and sadly we are selling our 02 cummins Ram.
I believe I had stumbled across this site a few times while searching for Duramax info and have finally decided to dive in.
Planned upgrades for the Dmax will be primarily towing focused. I want to get my EGTs down for the big hills, increase efficiency so I can get closer to the 18-20mpg our Dodge gets, and guarantee longevity by managing oil and water heat issues.
With the extensive membership here, I expect there is a great knowledge base.
Thanks in advance for the help.

AFI Live all the way!!! With a D-max, I personally would stay away from Juice, they have been having a lot of problems in the recent past... Not to mention you can actually do more with the EFI live set up....
As far as towing and economy, I tow almost exclusively with my LB7 and I have a BANKS 6-gun, check my SIG for more details, but I get an average of 19 around town unloaded and 24.5 unloaded on the big road, I also average 11 loaded and below you will find a pic of one of the heavier loads I haul...
Most of what I haul is Farm Goods...
WELCOME TO THE SITE!!!

Big Daddy: Are you using EFI Live? (not in your sig).
I havnt heard of any Edge Juice issues with the Duramax. The best thing I like about it is the Attitude monitor. There is alot of info readily available.
4x4 Mike: Where in WoodBridge? I sometimes hop off onto route 1 to avoid the nightmare on 95S. I also go to Potomac Mills once in a while.

No sir, i do not use it myself, I have the power pda from banks, it does most of what I need it to, but given the choice between the two that you asked about I would have to say EFI would be the better choice, if you look through the archives on this forum you will see quite a few problems recently with the Edge systems, although, they are VERY good about making sure that they back up their systems with outstanding customer service, etc. I personally run a Banks system, mainly because of the ease of use, and the different power parameters that I can use and different parts of my systems that I can monitor and adjust with it, for now it is all I need. after the first of the year, when my tree season is over, I plan to purchase EFI live because I have plans for a new project truck that I will be testing different tunes on ,etc. I have to say, if you simply want towing performance and MPG, then I would go with the Banks system OR the EFI if you think there is a chance of upgrading further later...
