L5p bulletins, recalls and updated calibrations

i do work for a GM dealership as a diesel tech so when I come across any updated calibrations or fixes for issues I will let everyone know.
If you DO NOT UNDERSTAND what is being said in these bulletins I wont answer them, this is purely for information on the everything GM is doing with the l5p.

Additional Options (RPOs)

Condition
Some customers may comment on high oil pressure or that the oil pressure is "pegged" high during the initial start up of the vehicle.

Cause
When first starting the engine with cold oil, the oil pressure can be up to 100 psi or 690 kPa (full range of oil pressure gauge) at idle conditions. This is normal with cold oil and internal relief valves in the engine will be active. As the engine oil temperature rises, the idle oil pressure will reduce.

Correction
This is considered a normal condition and no repairs should be performed.

Parts Information
No parts should be replaced for this condition.

Customer Information
Please communicate to the customer this condition is a normal characteristic of their vehicle. It will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle. Please share this information with the customer, including a copy of this bulletin.

Cause
These DTCs may be the result of loose connections of the charged air cooler ductwork.

Correction
If any combination of DTCs P0101, P0299, P11CC, P11DC, P2002 or P20EE are set; check for loose charged air cooler ductwork at the turbocharger outlet pipe, the charged air cooler inlet pipe, the charged air cooler outlet pipe and the connection at the throttle body.

Please note that a static visual inspection may not reveal that the connection is not adequate and that it is most likely to occur during engine roll or brake torque.

Condition
Some customers may comment on a “Service Emission System” warning in the DIC that occurred once and did not persist beyond one key cycle. The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) would also be illuminated. Upon inspection technicians will find DTCs P1016 and / or P1017 in history.

Cause
This may be the result of the Diesel Exhaust fluid (DEF) emission system detecting an intermittent serial data communication fault between the DEF quality sensor that is internal to the DEF tank and the DEF tank controller mounted on the DEF tank. The actual cause of the intermittent serial data communication fault is under investigation but has been shown to occur typically only once.

Correction
Complete the current SI diagnostic for any trouble codes or symptoms found. If the “Service Emission System” warning andP1017 DTC are no longer active and this is the first occurrence of this condition on the vehicle the MIL can be cleared. If after performing normal SI diagnostics and another root cause is not found, GM Engineering is aware of this concern and is working on a resolution.

Condition
Some customers may comment on a Service Emission System Message. This usually occurs after recently filling the DEF tank with the ignition in the on position, if:

•Using a mobile fill cart with an automatic nozzle
•Filling up at a commercial truck service station with DEF dispensing equipment
During diagnosis a technician may find DTC P206B set or stored in the history.

Note: Shortly after filling, the “Service Emission System” will clear on its own.

Cause
It has been found that some DEF fill equipment uses pumps that create a high level of temporary aeration of the DEF fluid being dispensed in the tank. This aeration of the DEF fluid could cause a temporary issue affecting the proper operation of the in-tank DEF Quality sensor. Seconds after a fill event completes the aeration dissipates and the DEF Quality sensor will return to its normal operation however if the customer has the vehicle keyed on during the fill event it is likely that this condition could occur.

Information
To reduce the likelihood of this issue occurring, the vehicle should be keyed off during filling of the DEF tank. In the event the condition is seen, the vehicle should remain keyed on until the “Service Emission System” warning clears. The P206B code in history can then be cleared. While not required some DEF filling equipment can be sold with an air/fluid separator, which can further reduce the likelihood of fluid aeration.
