Looking for an Allison 1000 for my 02 duramax.

The six speed option would be good. Do I have to change anything to make it work in my rig? Can you tell me what year allisons will fit my 02 without modifications?
Thanks

6 speed conversion is not worth it. Any 5 speed Ally will work from an LB7 or LLY.

The 6 speed trans [up to 08] will work as a 5 speed, if you change the valve body, inner harness, and use the NSBU switch. Not as a 6 speed without a conversion kit.

The 5 to 6 speed conversion is pricey [abt. 1600] but people should not say it is not worth it to you-- your bucks. If you want it, that is your call.

I like the 6 speed because it does reduce the RPM at freeway speed, and that also reduces cabin noise. Does not help mileage that much, but it was worth it to me.

I know there's a guy named red on here that has a 02 with a 6 speed conversion and he is selling his truck and looking for a stock trans to install and sell his 6 speed

Sent from a black cloud and the smell of burnt rubber

There's one on Hampton roads craiglist for $500. If I wasn't broke, id have already picked it up myself. Some things are worth having spares for.
