New Diesel Owner, How to Change Fuel Filter

Hello! I've been doing some reading around the forums, and I was wondering if there was a step-by-step tutorial for changing the fuel filter.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD Diesel (obviously). It has 173,8XX miles on it and I just picked it up yesterday.

I'm very new to owning a Diesel, but for what I'm going to use it for I would need a diesel. I appreciate the time for anyone who answers. If you have any other tips for me as a new owner, I would appreciate it as well!

I guess I should ask where you normally purchase a fuel filter. Does Napa sell them?

Most auto parts stores will carry the filter. If you have anywhere local that carries Baldwin Filters, they are excellent.

Oh I also forgot....do not turn the WIF sensor more than a quarter turn past hand tight, you will crack it and they are about 60 bucks to replace. I have had bad luck with the six filters. only the racor one for my truck!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I swapped it out yesterday and it still runs LOL! The only difficulty I had was my stupidity of thinking that the second diesel came out, that all the air was out. The truck just wouldnt start, so I opened the bleeder again and pumped. Bubbles came out then finally pure diesel. I didn't want to spill a whole lot of diesel, and honestly didnt know how much would come out. In reality it wasn't a whole lot.
After getting ALL of the air out, I cranked it for about 10 seconds and she fired right up!

Thanks for all the help!
